Manorhamilton TidyTowns committee praised for "immense improvement"

Although not competing in the Tidy Towns as long as many other towns and villages, the adjudicator commended the Manorhamilton committee for the improvement that has been made since his last visit to the town.

"You are a relative novice in the Tidy Towns competition having entered only for the last eight years. This adjudicator has seen immense improvement in the last seven years since their last visit. In fact the improvement was amazing.

"The fact that you won the Endeavour Award last year gave the adjudicator's some advance notice of what to expect."

The adjudicator also praised the stunning scenery on offer in the region.

"You also have the distinct advantage of being located in an area of outstanding natural beauty which is north Leitrim, and you are really the only sizeable town which can service this area from a visitor's point of view. Something that has nothing to
do with the adjudication but which struck the adjudicator was the fact that there is no hotel in your town.

"This seems like a necessary development if you want to further your tourism function. The town stands out as an artistic centre and its reputation goes before it in this regard. You can also capitalise on this artistic flair. We found our visit most
interesting."
