Two people have died in two separate single vehicle road collisions in less than 24 hours.
According to Gardaí, a man in his 30s died in hospital following a collision which occurred yesterday evening (Wednesday February 15) in Co Kerry, while another man aged in his 40s died in Co Mayo just after midnight (Thursday February 16).
The first incident occurred at approximately 6pm on the N71, Kenmare to Bantry Road at Drominassig, after which the driver of the car was taken to Cork University Hospital where he later passed away.
A technical examination of the scene by Garda Forensic Collision investigators is set to take place this morning.
The road is currently closed, with local diversions currently in place.
The second incident occurred on the N60 at Ballygowan in Claremorris, Co Mayo involving a man who had been driving a van.
His body was removed to the mortuary at Mayo University Hospital where a post-mortem will take place in due course.
A technical examination of the scene has been completed by Garda Forensic Collision investigators and the road has re-opened this morning.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to either collision to come forward and any road users with video footage (including dash cam) is asked to make this available to them.
