Return to theatre with the Beezneez at The Dock

Return to theatre with the Beezneez at The Dock

The Dock reopens to theatre audience on Thursday and Friday, February 3 and 4.

Almost two years since the doors of The Dock’s theatre were closed due to Covid-19 they are to re-open with a world premiere performance of ‘Twilight’ a new play by John Mc Dwyer presented by Beezneez Theatre Company.
It is somehow fitting that the theatre company that gave the very first performance in The Dock when it opened in 2005 should be the ones to perform as it re-opens to welcome patrons and audiences back this February.

Both the staff of The Dock and the members of Beezneez Theatre Company are thrilled at the prospect of welcoming audiences back into the building.
There is nothing quite like the moments before the beginning of a play when a quiet hush descends on a theatre as the lights dim and the audience waits in anticipation of the performance.

To say that we have missed these moments is an understatement and we know that our loyal patrons have missed them too as well as the social aspect of a night out at the theatre, meeting old friends and perhaps meeting new ones as well.
In ‘Twilight’ two friends, who haven’t met for over thirty-five years meet for coffee on the patio of a hotel. Why have they not met for all this time and why are they meeting now? McDwyer’s play, whilst containing his trademark humour is a serious exposition of how life choices bring their own consequences.

Through a series of denouements, the two friends, the reason for their estrangement revealed, finally find common ground from which they can move on.
Featuring two All-Ireland Award-winning actors, John McDwyer (Educating Rita) and Tom Walsh (The Communication Cord) 'Twilight' is a play that, as well as providing a fine evening of theatre, will give much food for thought and discussion.
With some restrictions on capacity still in place there is a limited capacity for the premiere performance. The safety and comfort of our audiences are our prime concern so you can be assured that all the necessary steps will be taken to ensure that you have a memorable, enjoyable, and safe night out when you visit The Dock.

The first show on Thursday, February 3 has already sold out so an extra performance has been added on Friday, February 4.
The only other item to mention is that tickets are selling quickly so if you are hoping to see ‘Twilight’ we would advise that you book straight away as only a limited number remain.
You can book on www.thedock.ie  by phone on (071)9650828 or by calling in to our box office.
