A retired bus driver who worked on a number of routes in Leitrim has been described as "a lovely man, who always made sure we got from a to b, even if we forgot our ticket."

Jimmy Cullen, originally of Brockagh, Co Sligo and formerly of Glenfarne, Co Leitrim, who died at the weekend has been remembered fondly by all who knew him from his time as a bus driver from their daily commutes.

Messages of condolence have described Jimmy as a "very dignified and sincere person" and a "most kind and caring bus driver" following his passing Saturday, August 31.

One former passenger wrote: "Deepest sympathy to the Cullen family on the passing of Jimmy. Was a passenger on his bus between Ballinamore and Longford on many occasions and we had great banter between us. He was a true gentleman."
