There has been an outpouring of condolences and shared memories following the peaceful passing of Tommie Sheridan of Carrickoghill, Killargue, on Friday, December 26.

Fond memories are being recalled in tributes paid following the peaceful passing of Tommie Sheridan of Carrickoghill, Killargue.

Described as “a real gentleman,” Tommie passed away on Friday, December 26, at Our Lady’s Hospital, Manorhamilton. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret and his granddaughter Liliana.

He will be deeply missed by his loving children Ciaran, Declan, Mairead and Rosemary; his sister Philomena; his cherished grandchildren Shaun, Josh, Harry, Jessica, Teddy, Tommy, Kate, Macdara, Ollie, Joey and Nessa; daughters-in-law Carmel and Dearbhla; sons-in-law Mossie and Darren; his nephews Sean and Barry; niece Karen; as well as his neighbours and wide circle of friends.

Many heartfelt condolences have been shared on RIP.ie, including messages from those who knew Tommie through his time in the reserves. “Tommie was a character, very supportive, kind and great to have him in our group when I joined the FCA in the late ‘70’s. He left lasting memories. May he now rest in peace,” one condolence read.

Another tribute stated, “He was a cheerful and charismatic man with good humour always. We had the gift of his company for over forty years in the FCA and RDF. We will miss him.”

Funeral Mass for Tommie took place on Sunday, December 28, in St Bridget’s Church, Killargue, followed by burial in Killargue New Cemetery.

Tommie has also been fondly remembered for his kindness and consideration during his years at Our Lady’s Hospital, Manorhamilton. One condolence noted, “Tommie was so kind and helpful to the patients in Our Lady's Hospital over the years, May he rest in peace and be happy and rewarded for his kindness to so many.”

Another tribute read, “Tommie was a thorough gentleman who was held in high regard by his many friends and colleagues. May his kind and generous soul rest in peace, after a long life well lived.”

Reflecting on his professional and military service, one message stated, “As an Officer in An Forsa Cosanta Áitiúil - he was a role model and an inspiration to his junior comrades; and in his role in Our Lady's Hospital, his easy-going, pleasant, helpful manner gave comfort to multitudes of patients and visitors over the years - a thorough Gentleman always.”
