Deaths in Leitrim, Saturday, February 26, 2022

The following deaths have occurred in the wider Leitrim area:

Bernard (Bernie) Prior, Glennanmór, Aughawillan and formerly Lisacarn, Ballinamore, Leitrim

Friday 25th February 2022, suddenly, at his residence. Predeceased by his wife Monica (nee Gallagher), his brother Micheál and his sister Maureen. He will be sadly missed by his sons Noel, Kieran, Aiden and Raymond, his daughter Louise, his mother Molly, brothers Patsy, Myles, Tommy & Killian, sisters Nonie, Kathleen, Bridie, Siobhán, Geraldine & Angela, grandchildren, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, relatives, neighbours and friends

Reposing at his home in Glennanmór (N41 VA48) on Saturday from 3pm until 7pm and again on Sunday from 3pm until 7pm. House private at all other times, please. Removal to St. Patrick’s Church Aughawillan on Monday arriving for Funeral Mass at 12 noon followed by burial in Aughawillan new cemetery.

Please note that a one way system will be in operation on Saturday and Sunday during reposing hours. Access to the house will be via Ballinamore to Swanlinbar Road. Please exit onto the Ballinamore – Killeshandra Road.

Nuala Kelly, Dartry, Kinlough, Leitrim/ Tallaght, Dublin

Nuala Kelly, Tallaght and formerly of Dartry, Kinlough, Co. Leitrim. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family in the exceptional, compassionate care of the ICU Tallaght University Hospital.

Nuala will be deeply regretted and much loved by her sons David (Sharon), Luke (Sarah) and Gary. Her grandchildren, her sisters Phyllis, Pat, Josephine and Geraldine, her brother PJ, her sister in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Nuala's mortal remains will arrive to St. Aidan's Church, Kinlough for 11 o'clock funeral Mass, on Wednesday the 2nd of March. Removal of remains afterwards to Lakelands Crematorium, Cavan for 3pm Celebration of Life Service.

Hugh McCartin, Ardunsaghan, Drumreilly, Leitrim

Suddenly. Predeceased by his father and mother Johnny and Bridget and brothers Sean and Joe. Deeply regretted by his heartbroken Partner Martina of 29 years and all her family, brothers Gerry (Mary) and Martin (Sheila). Aunt Maggie,Uncle Hughie, Nephews, Nieces relatives,neighbours and a large circle of Friends.

House private to family neighbours and close friends please. 

Reposing at Smiths Funeral home, High Street, Ballinamore (Eircode N41 TD62) on Sunday evening from 4pm until 6pm. Removal from his residence on Monday morning to arrive at St Mary's Church, Drumreilly (Eircode H12XY92) for Funeral Mass at 12 noon with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Michael C. Flynn, Woodside, New York and formerly of Fearglass, Drumlish, Leitrim

Peacefully, in hospital, after a long illness. Predeceased by his parents Francis and Mary. Also his sister Christina Mc Hugh, New York, who died 23.02.2022. Deeply regretted by his wife Yindi, sisters, Aine de Vere, Shercock, Co. Cavan and Dympna, Dublin, brothers, Noel, New York and Aidan, Boston, his sister-in-law, Pauline, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Michael's funeral takes place in New York on Saturday the 26th of February. Burial will take place in Ireland at a later date.

John McGowan, Kinlough, Leitrim

John Mc Gowan (Known as Sean of the Lane), 7 Eastbury Drive, Solinhull, Birmingham, England and formerly of The Lane, Kinlough, Co. Leitrim. Peacefully in Heartlands Hospital Birmingham surrounded by his loving family. Remains reposing in Gilmartin's Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Kinlough, Co Leitrim on Monday, February 28th, from 7 o'clock to 9 o'clock. Removal of remains on Tuesday morning to St. Aidan's Church, Kinlough for Funeral Mass at 11 o'clock. Burial afterwards in the Old Cemetery Rossinver Road, Kinlough. Sean's Funeral Mass will be streamed live on Kinlough/Glenade Parish Facebook Page. HSE Guidelines in relation to face coverings and handshaking to be adhered to at all times. 

Lilly (Elizabeth) Casey, Boyle, Roscommon

Peacefully, in the loving care of the staff of Drumderrig Nursing Home, Boyle and formerly 7, The Warren, Boyle, Co. Roscommon, on the 23rd of February 2022. Predeceased by her sisters Helen, Bridie, Theresa, her partner John O'Brien, brother in law John Mc Dermott, niece Mary Casey and nephews John and Jimmy Corrigan. Sadly missed by her nephews Michael, Roy and Gerry Corrigan, Michael Croghan and nieces Bridge and Caroline Croghan and families and grandnephew Eddie Costello. Lilly's remains will leave Mahon's Funeral Home, Saturday, 26th of February, to arrive at St Joseph's Church, Boyle, for funeral Mass at 11am with burial afterwards to Assylynn Cemetery, via Maple Drive and the Warren. The funeral Mass can be viewed on www.boyleparish.ie. If you would like to leave a personal message of sympathy for the family, please use the condolence section below. Those attending the funeral are respectfully requested to observe social distancing, wear a face covering at all times and avoid handshaking.
