McDonald’s newest restaurant in Ireland has opened today in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co Leitrim.
The new restaurant, which has created 90 jobs initially in the local area, has opened at the Attifinlay Roundabout on the Dublin Road in the town. Customers are able to order their food in-restaurant and via the drive-thru.
The development comprises a 418 sq m two-storey restaurant, with 31 car parking spaces (including two mobility impaired spaces, three electric vehicle spaces and two grill bays), bicycle parking and an outdoor seating area.
The 90 new jobs that have been created range from full-time and part-time crew member roles to mid and senior managerial positions. Like all McDonald's restaurants across Ireland, the beef, bacon, milk, water and eggs served in the Carrick-on-Shannon restaurant will be 100% Irish.
McDonald’s Franchisee Elaine Sterio said: “This major investment in Carrick-on-Shannon reflects McDonald’s commitment to growing its business in Ireland and I’m pleased to confirm our new store has already created significant levels of employment, both directly and indirectly through the agri-food and manufacturing supply chain.”
Elaine, who also operates McDonald's restaurants in Navan, Monaghan, Dundalk, Drogheda and Balbriggan, said that forging strong community links in Carrick-on-Shannon and the surrounding area will be a key focus for the restaurant team in the months ahead.
“McDonald’s is committed to serving the local communities around our restaurants, so we are very much looking forward to building relationships with local community groups, organisations and stakeholders in Carrick-on-Shannon and the surrounding area.
“Carrick-on-Shannon is a vibrant town which has a lot to offer, and we are committed to playing our part in driving economic prosperity in the area. We believe that the addition of this new McDonald’s restaurant can act as a catalyst for future business growth in Co Leitrim and we are thrilled to have opened our doors to the public today.”
The new Carrick-on-Shannon restaurant brings McDonald’s portfolio of restaurants in the Republic of Ireland to 95, all of which are operated by franchisees, employing more than 7,000 staff.
