Tributes pour in for 87-year-old Leitrim woman with 'heart of pure gold' following passing

A Leitrim community is mourning the loss of Annie McMorrow (née Stankard), who passed away peacefully on March 15 at the age of 87.

Surrounded by her devoted family, Annie’s passing has left a deep void among those who knew and loved her.

Annie, formerly of Shivdillagh, Drumkeerin, and Omagh, Co. Tyrone, has been remembered for her warm nature and kind spirit. She is predeceased by her beloved husband, Michael, her parents, Martin and Kathleen, and her brothers, Martin and John.

She is survived by her children Michael, Mary, Josie, Gerry, Frances, Paddy, and Desmond, along with her many grandchildren, siblings, extended family, and a wide circle of friends and neighbours.

Tributes have been pouring in on RIP.ie, with many remembering Annie as a woman with “a heart of gold”.

“Our deepest condolences to the McMorow family on the passing of Annie. Annie had a heart of pure gold, may she rest in heavenly peace.”

“Deepest sympathy to the McMorrow family on the sad passing of Annie. She was a lovely lady always had a warm smile. May her gentle soul rest in peace,” one condolence read.

Another heartfelt tribute described her as “a warm and positive lady - lucky to have gotten to know.”

Her loss has been deeply felt, with another mourner offering their sympathies to her family: “Deepest condolences Michael, Mary, Josie, Gerry, Frances, Paddy, Desmond & all your family on the passing of your beloved mum. Your mum was a pure lady. May Annie’s gentle soul rest in peace.”

Annie’s Funeral Mass took place at 12pm on Wednesday, March 19, at St Brigids Church, Creevelea, followed by burial in Drumkeerin Cemetery.
